San Martin De Porres Soup Kitchen

San Martin De Porres Soup Kitchen

The San Martin de Porres Soup Kitchen was formed in July 1992 to help feed the poor and hungry. With the cooperation of the City Fathers and director of the HUD Program we operate at the Apple Valley Senior Center five times a week, Monday through Friday; serving a hot lunch and providing a food basket to anyone referred to us by a church or State Agency.

We serve 20,000 meals and distribute over 1000 food boxes a year. We are a 501 (C)(3) non-profit organization, are incorporated and registered with the New Mexico Attorney General's Office. We rely totally on donations and volunteer work. We will not refuse anyone regardless of race, color or creed.

We have over 100 volunteers that help serve throughout the month. We have 10 churches represented, 3 youth groups (that help during the summer and holiday vacations), 2 families (that take one day a month) and 1 financial institution. The Los Alamos National Lab helps us with our Holiday Food Box Give-Away and Annual Fundraiser, the Chile Bowl Contest.

We rely totally on donations and all work is volunteer. Our phone number is 505-753-4956 and our web site is www.smdpsoupkitchen.com
